What exactly happens at my first CrossFit workout?
Your first workout at CrossFit Goat will be a fun and challenging experience! Normally each class starts with a warm-up, a lift or a skills practice, and instruction on movement standards for the workout. When your coach yells “3-2-1 GO!” the workout begins and our community of athletes push and encourage each other. Our classes are designed for scalability and anyone can participate, but we also require brand new CrossFitters to participate in our Foundations program to enter regular classes. Your first Foundations class consists of a bodyweight workout, but you’ll also get a chance to watch our regular athletes so you can see how it all works.
Do I need prior experience to take classes?
Absolutely not! In fact, we’ve trained a ton of people who have never even touched a barbell before they met us. After you complete your Foundations program you can transition into whichever class best fits your schedule. The beauty of CrossFit is that all exercises are based on movements that are found in every day life, such as squatting, pushing and pulling. Exercises are scaled to inspire the beginner and challenge the most elite athlete.
Do I have to be in shape to take CrossFit classes?
NO! We cannot stress this enough. There is a misconception that CrossFit is for elite athletes, or at least those who are already fit. You may have seen The CrossFit Games on ESPN. The truth is, those athletes are our “Olympians.” If you had only ever seen an Olympic sprinter, yet you wanted to start exercising via jogging or running, would you tell yourself you couldn’t do it because of the physical appearance of the Olympic sprinter you just saw? You wouldn’t, because that’s ridiculous. You’d go out and start jogging. It’s the same thing here at CrossFit Goat. We say that we are “Forging Elite Fitness” and we absolutely are, but this means that you start the journey where you are today. If you stay committed it’s likely that you will get in to the best shape of your life.
Choose an actual affiliate!
An affiliate is a privately owned gym directly associated with CrossFit, Inc. Affiliates submerge themselves in all things CrossFit, including encouraging members to compete in local weightlifting meets, technical clinics related to our sport, and local competitions with other affiliates. Affiliates provide community and camaraderie, which is just as rewarding as the program itself. Affiliate coaches will have shadowed, apprenticed, and worked directly under other experienced CrossFit coaches to get their start.
